Potato cultivation in Hassan district has declined significantly over the past 15–20 years. The cultivated area, which was around 50,000 hectares in earlier years, has fallen to approximately 6,000–8,000 hectares. The horticulture department has started measures aimed at encouraging farmers and supporting the revival of potato cultivation.
